Percent Abundance DefinitionThe Association of Professional Scientologists (APSC) defines the nature of APSC membership as follows: 'The people of APSC are an integrated whole that uses all fields of knowledge to generate the highest spiritual or mental experience possible. The term, 'Academy of Science for the pursuit of Spirituality' represents a philosophical paradigm that considers all forms of knowledge, including but not limited to education, as contributing to a greater understanding of the interrelatedness of everything. It is the movement that affirms that there is no true separation between our human and spiritual being, and therefore, that it is possible to realize one's spiritual potential in each and every field of knowledge and experience.' The highest spiritual achievement which can be achieved by a member of APSC is the attainment of the 'Ascension'.Chemistry is defined as 'a form of spiritual energy, thought or energy manifested through the materials that make up mat ter.' Hence, they have used the term 'spiritual energy' to describe their philosophy. They do not consider the concept of chemical energy as an illusion or trickery as many other religions do. They believe that the universe was created by a higher source of energy to test theories and concepts that were tested and found to be valid. This resulted in the creation of matter, which came about through the physical law of the conservation of energy.What is remarkable about the APSC is that they also look at the development of the structure of the universe as a science, also known as cosmology. They believe that this structure is controlled by an entity referred to as 'the intelligence behind the stars.'This intelligence is constantly changing the very structure of the universe, and thus science has no way of predicting what it will create. The principles of chemistry are explained by using a combination of religious beliefs and scientific discoveries. Achieving higher levels of concentra tion through meditation is considered to be a fundamental principle of chemistry. The body is considered to be a divine vessel and therefore the spiritual essence of the body should be repurposed to serve the needs of the individual.In addition to the holistic aspects of APSC, they also use the term 'Ascension' in their definition of percent abundance definition. Many of these former members have been converted to the point where they no longer consider themselves Scientologists.
